Hi Reader, I am yearning, longing, desiring, despairing, declaring, and desperate. Not in a clingy, help-me-someone way. I am desperate to feel whole. I ache to get away from my desk, the news, the endless cycle of cooking food and shitting it out, the dust, sitting behind the wheel. I hunger to connect with my soul’s purpose, to feel my power, to see my dreams reflected in the faces around me. I long for the forest, being in circle, moving, dancing, singing, crying, laughing, and eating meals I don’t have to prepare. The Awakening the Divine Feminine retreat I’ve planned is just as much for me as it is for you. I know I am not the only one thirsty to break out of the mundane, to rise above the fear and immobilization, to connect with the very things that the patriarchy would like to suppress. And yet, so many people are afraid to make a move, spend money, commit to their self-care; to poke their heads up from the misery for fear it will get smashed back down. I get it. I get seduced by inertia, too. These despairing times require radical action. I am making a huge leap, a grand offer, a radical choice to invite you to the retreat for (almost) free.
Will this entice you to come out of your shell? Will you see this opportunity as the sign that this situation is dire, that we must gather together to save ourselves?
To engage as many participants as possible, the facilitator's fee is being offered on a sliding scale from $50 (which simply covers your materials for the retreat) to $597. Pay what you can. Here’s the deal: I can’t pay for your meals and lodging for the 4-day, 3-night retreat. You have to do that. The cost of that ranges from $330 to $450. But I can forfeit my facilitator’s fee for you. The call to gather as many of you as possible is stronger than any need to make money. Meal and lodging fees are due by March 14. The only other cost is $50 for the materials we’ll be using during the retreat.
There has never been a time in my lifetime where I've sensed so much collective angst, fear, and frozeness. Even during the pandemic—which was filled with incredible isolation and dark energy—the “perpetrator” was a virus, not other people wreaking havoc on our lives (though that did come to pass). And it was world-wide, so those of us in the U.S. weren’t the only ones in it (though what is happening here will have global impact). Please come out and play. Dance in the moonlight. Walk in the woods. Eat with levity. Raise your head so I can look into your eyes. We gather April 4-7, 2025. You can get all the information about the retreat here. Hi Reader, Look at this little plant... It doesn't know it's rooted in only a few cups of soil. It doesn't care that it started from a tiny sprig my neighbor was going to throw away. It stretched, first to the left, then to the right, then to wherever it could. Now it's spreading across my dining room ceiling, dangling from whatever it can find without a care in the world. If I forget all the things I've been told that limit me and my growth, maybe I can be like that plant. Have a great...
Hi Reader, I was a guest on a podcast last week. I’m being interviewed on a number of them in the next coming months (I’ll be sure to post them here when they air) and I love, love, love getting to talk about doulas and the tremendous impact they make in people’s lives, whether during birth, death, divorce, cancer, gender transition, dementia, surgery, pet loss, or any challenging life situation. My favorite question I was asked? What’s the difference between a doula and a coach? ❓ It’s such...
Hi Reader, Feeling powerless? Voting with your money is one of the easiest ways to exert your power in America. I learned this when I worked for Group Health Cooperative and started shopping at food coops. When you give a business your money, you are voting for them. When you avoid or refuse to shop with them, you’re letting them know they aren’t worthy of your cash. In the past few weeks, Walmart, Target, Amazon, McDonald’s, and many smaller businesses took advantage of the open call for...
